WELCOME
We kindly invite you to take part in our international 4-days-orienteering event «Cupa Velikden» from April 29th to May 2nd, 2016, in Targovishte, Bulgaria. The event takes place during the Orthodox Easter festivities and is a splendid opportunity to explore Bulgarian culture off the beaten tracks. The program in brief:
Friday, April 29th Day 1: «Balkan Party»; One Man Relay
Saturday, April 30th Day 2: «Balkan Express»; Targovishte Trophy Sprint, IOF-World Ranking Event (applied)
Sunday, May 1st Day 3: «Balkan Hills»; Middle distance, IOF-World Ranking Event (applied)
Monday, May 2nd Day 4: «Balkan Heroes»; Long distance
Competition center
Competition center is situated in the city of Targovishte, Bulgaria
Maps and terrains
All competitions will take place on new maps. The fieldwork will be done in late 2015 and early 2016 by Bulgaria’s well-known mapper Dian Bonev. The forests in Targovishte region are mainly mixed forests with big parts of oak and beech – good runnability! Lots of little creeks, gullies, ditches, trenches, foxhowls and rocks add some thrill to the interesting and hilly terrain. For last years maps go to: www.variant5.org/maps
Classes
Women: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21E, 21B, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, open short, open middle, open long.
Men: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21E, 21B, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 and open short, open middle, open long.
Results and Prizes
The four days of «Velikden Cup 2016» are separate competitions. There is no overall ranking. For each race, the first three runners in each class will be awarded. There is a substantual prize money for elite classes M21E and W21E in the WRE-races..
Entries
Deadline for entries is April 10th, 2016. Please register online at www.cup.variant5.org/entry starting from October 1st, 2015. There are limited possibilities to accept late entries until April 20th. A late entry fee will be charged. On spot you may register for open classes only.
Start times
Start times for all four competition days will be published on April 22nd, 2016, online at https://cup.variant5.org/ .
Entry Fee
The entry fee including all fours starts will be
00 EUR for classes M10, W10
33 EUR for classes M/W 12, 14, 16
44 EUR for all classes from M/W18 to W55 and M75
55 EUR for elite classes M21E and W21E
Please note: We offer reduced entry fees for competitors from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
Accommodation and Packages
We offer packages including all entry fees, transport to the events and four nights hotel accommodation (standard hotel, double room, breakfast included) starting from 110 EUR (120 EUR for elite class runners). If you need assistance in finding suitable accommodation for bigger groups, please do not hesitate to contact us well in advance. If you are looking for upper class hotel accommodation we can assist you, too. As well we may find basic accommodation possibilities in sports halls.
